Becoming
The GeaniE

Glennetria Harold, also known as The Geanie, is a New York City-based painter whose bold, story-rich works live at the intersection of surrealism and abstraction. Through layered brushstrokes, vivid color, and emotionally charged forms, she explores identity, resilience, and the complex truths of Black womanhood.
Raised in Northeast Florida and shaped by the realities of poverty, Glennetria’s early life was driven by a clear determination: to break free from hardship and make some magic happen. She pursued higher education and a career that brought financial stability and structure, but her soul continued to long for more. That deeper longing would pull her back to what had always been quietly guiding her: the need to create.
Art, while always a part of her life in some way, became the language she couldn't live without and a powerful return to self, story, and soul. Over time, painting transformed from a side note into her true voice, where survival and spirit meet on the canvas.
Viewers are not simply observing her art — they are participating in it. Her artwork carries emotional weight, acting as a visual invitation to feel, to question, and to reconnect with the stories we carry within.
With each bold stroke and radiant hue, The Geanie offers more than an image
She offers a mirror, a moment, and a bit of magic.
